Theatre and the event industry are inherently wasteful. Everything we make has a lifespan and sometimes it is a very short one.
Here at Tin Shed we are very conscious of this and try, wherever possible, to reuse and recycle.
All our waste wood is collected by Southampton Wood Recycling Project and our saw dust is also taken to be recycled. Metals, card, paper and packaging are recycled through the normal channels. Wood Recycling projects are also a valuable source for buying wood products like spindles, doors, desks etc.
Scenery that comes back to us is either reused by us or passed on to other companies through Set Exchange. We purchase the majority of our timber and sheet materials from Creffileds where all stock is approved by The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) which is an international organisation that brings people together to find solutions which promote responsible stewardship of the world’s forests.
We hope in the future we will be able to do more to lessen the environmental impact of our work.
